Our Unexpected Recent Move in Banff.
Mid last month were got a surprise notice from our Landlord that he needed us to move on March 10th, 2010. There were no options and our lease was up in May. We concluded this was a pragmatic time to move and the larger operating space was required for a even smoother client experience in the Park. I am beyond half way in what is considered my natural life. The right to live in Banff comes from a inherent birth right because I have had no permanent address in Canada before our Station Main Address here in Banff as of 1990. It's been 20 years back home in Canada now. When I arrived home after years of education in the "Visual Arts" in United States it seemed that it was all suppose to be. I was employed with the "Crag and Canyon" as a Graphic Artist, and Pre-Press Darkroom Photographer in only a few days of being in Banff. Within a month I bought a new Professional SLR and here we are today 20 years later.
In all my life I have never been rewarded so greatly with just simply looking out my many studio windows. When you see what I see everyday you can easily forget about all the concerns of the material world. However, as you can see in my snapshot slide show the many reasons I have chosen to turn over a new leaf. Our sustainable action is to improve the future of all of our futures with our printed media not originating from trees. This is a huge however possible goal because 5% of the population consumes 30 odd percent of the world's forest in trees for paper pulp. Recycling is only beginning to help however when you can only recycle tree pulp 3 times we quickly understand our forest are simply not growing back that quickly when we have consumed upwards of 90% of the forest since the start of the industrialized revolution.
A couple's Wedding day is not about industry it's about love and the bright future love brings. What is Love? Well, one thing for certain, it's the number one pro activity of anything that is living. We all live to breath and love. In my world love and service walks hand and hand. I do what I do everyday out of love and nothing else. I take great heart in putting smiles on folk's faces and tears of happiness in Bride's eyes when they see their photos for the first time. I never knew my pro-active life in the world was harmful until I started to be educated about hard facts from ecology experts and respected photography industry leaders.
We are all here thanks to the quality of water we require daily to remain healthy. This existence is a gift given to us by this Earth we have inherited to take care of. My couples always choose my services from the very first day a general manager in Banff National Park hand picked me to photograph his Wedding at The Banff Springs Hotel and I am very grateful of the life I have been able to live for last 20 years in the parks photographing Special Events and Weddings. In the time here providing photography for the destination and tourism industry I have come to know that 75% of the fresh water that feeds North America originates from my very door step!
The reason I go on about the past and the time line is to let the public know I am just one full time photographer in a world of billions who are sharing photographs daily with this socially friendly activity. However this activity is a leading cause of deforestation with paper consumption climbing 400% in the last 40 years! More people, more photos and industry is banking on us to take more with 200,000+ new babies each day. We can not give up the paper over night however there are many alternative paper producing resources on the planet that are more renewable than trees. The greatest thing about this fact is that they are available in the market place now.
So please if you have read this far. Consider the inherent future of our future Mothers, Children, and Grandchildren of this one and only Earth. Through science history shows that the Earth endures global change of many natural causes however man is a young species and our existence highly depends on his ability to manage his inherent, renewable, and nonrenewable resources.
I thank you for this time and please keep in mind we should really start observing our entire planet as a First National Park as this is only a pragmatic action in a world of much need.
